Definitely one of the toughest jobs we ever encountered--this home on the hill in Cambridge NY has Just over a week ago I went to Lewes DE to help the California crew wrap up an an art studio....along with bringing down some specially stained shiplap of which we were short due to the difficulty of economically
siding three large lower walls with no windows.

This studio is in short--a gem. Our client is an artist in her own right--proficient and passionate in her chosen craft of quilting. She had very particular criteria for the barn....STK oil bleached cedar siding, no window trim, and three uninterrupted walls to allow for her hanging her quilts in process. While in some ways this significantly ratcheted up the challenges--it was also a pleasure to build for someone easily as opinionated and adamant as I.........where I rarely had to guess or assume what she wanted since the artistic accents were right out there in front 24/7.

She was also kind and hospitable--putting up the crew on site in her home away from home....which allowed them to focus on the job at hand and put up the shell in about six weeks and put almost no miles on the truck. The guys (Cory & Jon) started at only two until joined by Steven 2/3 of the way through--when they really needed a third guy for roofing, windows, and siding. The magnificent doors completed the elegantly industrial vernacular with no frills whatsoever other than the glass wall facing the house they cover while she is gone. The siding might as well have been sheathing a cabinet--so close were the tolerances up to the windows without any trim to cover any gaps (she found one which we immediately fixed....).

We left with no few tears--filled with gratitude for another project which stretched our design envelope considerably...and gave us the gift of a wider repertoire we can now offer to future clients....because of her vision to birth this gem and the crew's capacity to realize it.

Such a blessing to be part of their joint journey....
