This horse barn lent itself to some creativity through being nestled into a steep hill. At the lower level accessed through the pasture are six horse stalls, a tack room and staircase to the large, open garage area above. This area supports and is surrounded by massive cathedral beams running from the perimeter posts through the ceiling joined to 40' purlins at the roofline collar ties, under which is suspended a huge storage attic. The garage floor will support anything from a tractor to a tank...surfaced with planks adhered with 4000 screws, and accessed from the driveway behind on the hill.
The owners have remained good friends since the building was constructed years ago, and have sheltered a large variety of both vehicles and animals. The barn is a versatile as they are, with no end in sight for future applications...in fact...a few years later George was persuaded to build a matching coop for a variety of chickens and turkeys! Yes, it is post and beam and diagonally framed, with a complete egg laying operation on the upper level, with all the amenities.
