Clean interior lines and a modest contextual presence near East Hampton
Our clients purchased a small cottage in one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country as an investment property. Each summer, the population of this sleepy village swells with those who arrive and rent homes for the summer. Geobarns was engaged to design and build a new home for this site, leaving the existing cottage as a separate apartment. The town’s restrictive zoning encouraged creative thinking, and resulted in one of the few hipped roofs ever seen on a Geobarn, as the roof needed to step down according to regulatory setbacks. Connecting porches and pergolas, as well as matched siding and finishes, pulled the incongruous buildings together into an elegant ensemble.
