Sunapee House

March 19, 2018

A small farmhouse based on historic forms

A broad porch welcomes family and guests into this classic New England bank barn home, built on a small footprint yet taking advantage of the hillside to provide generous interior space. Placing the entry at mid-level on the uphill side of the bank creates country-house style proportions, while the rear of the home follows traditional Yankee geometry for historic barns. A cupola provides ample natural light into an open interior featuring a mezzanine level and lower-level walkout, all near New Hampshire’s Lake Sunapee.
