Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts has been operating outdoor adventure experiences for youth, students, and adults for more than half a century, offering programs that combine teamwork, personal growth, and a deep connection to nature. The college’s La Vida Center in Lake Clear, NY needed a new community building at their base camp deep in the Adirondacks.
We are very pleased they found Geobarns – not just for the opportunity to design and build, but also to share in their mission to nourish joyful living and a love for the environment. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, and state wilderness reserves, the location could not be more beautiful and is home to the earliest and most famous of the Adirondack Great Camps established in the 19th century.
The Geobarn itself is quite simple: room to hold camp meetings, storage for outdoor equipment, and space for training sessions on rainy days. We designed it to belong to the land, as we do with every Geobarn. And we hope that it will serve many future generations in developing a deep connection with wild, untouched places, as many generations before have done.
